An example of how XML can be used to update your own web pages can be seen at ashburnweather.netfirms.com/wx.html. This is the standard VWS wx.html web page, except the page itself is never updated; the data updates via data binding to an XML page. While not particularly sophisticated, it demonstrates that you could have an infinite number of web pages displaying current data while you only upload a single, small XML file (plus whatever graphs/gauge type images you want displayed).

All I see is a blank page.

Hi Gary, Very nice job on all of this! So what do I need to use to display the XML data on my webpage? Thanks! Reif Heck

Well, probably the easiest thing to do is to use your browser's "view source" capability on the wXML Project page. Right after the body tag, the data source(s) you'll be using must be identified. Then, within a table, you'll need to make reference to that "data source object" that is the source file, then within each cell, using the SPAN attribute, you'll need to refer to the specific data element you want to display. The fundamentals aren't too bad, but it gets complex pretty quickly. I'd start out by cutting and pasting from the source of the wXML Project page. You can of course pick and choose which data from which source that you want to display, and you can take your own data elements from your XML Feed and make as many pages on your site as you want, only needing to upload the .xml file as a source.
There are lots of good sources online for further XML and data binding techniques. A Google (or search engine of choice) search on "XML data binding" should get you lots of material.

BTW, the map on the wXML Project page has been updated to include your station. Believe it or not, this isn't my full-time job ;D!

Well... I'm not too sure about a life, but a "real" job and a family, certainly! I can still remember having a life, though...
