All help and suggestions would be appreciated here:
I have a Vantage Pro which has the 9pin serial port interface. I have a new PC which is an ultra-compact silent one... and has no serial ports. It does, however, have 8 USB ports. Based on this, I bought a couple of Startech USB to Serial adapters. The PC is running Windows 7 Professional 32bit. There's ample RAM and hard drive space available, and the N280 Atom CPU should be more than fast enough. The WeatherLink software version I have installed is 5.9.2
The setup runs ok for a few minutes, then WeatherLink just stops responding. I can't even kill the process when this happens, I have to reboot to get it going again.
I have tried both adapters but this makes no difference. The adapters work fine with other serial-port devices - I have an Aurora cloud sensor attached which carries on functioning when WeatherLink has crashed, and I have also tried an external modem and a very old serial port mouse, both work fine on the adapter.
I have tried running WeatherLink in compatibility mode with almost every setting available, but this makes no difference.
I have also tried the older version 5.8.2 but this crashes in the same way.
Can anyone offer any help, suggestions or guidance?

Have you disabled Power Management on your USB hubs?

Thanks very much for that suggestion, I thought I must have missed something obvious. I have now disabled power management for the two applicable root hubs... fingers crossed.

Still so far so good? I am also experiencing the same WeatherLink lockup that you are or did. I checked the USB root hubs that magicmatt suggested but they are all disabled.

Sorry that was talbert1952 with the USB root hub suggestion in my previous post.

The beta version seems to have fixed the lock up; it's been over a week now with no problems. Thanks!
