This Javascript displays the description of the wind using Beaufort Force nomenclature. As written, it utilizes Miles Per Hour. It can be easily modified for other units by changing the threshhold criteria for those units, which are widely published.

{beau = "Calm; smoke rises vertically"}
if (force >= 1.0)
{beau = "Smoke drift indicates wind direction; vanes do not move."}
if (force >= 4.0)
{beau = "Wind felt on face; leaves rustle; wind vanes begin to move."}
if (force >= 8)
{beau = "Leaves, small twigs in constant motion; light flags extended."}
if (force >= 13)
{beau = "Dust, leaves, and loose paper raised up; small branches move; flags flap."}
if (force >= 19)
{beau = "Small trees in leaf begin to sway"}
if (force >= 25)
{beau = "Large tree branches bend; whistling in power lines; umbrella unwieldy."}
if (force >= 32)
{beau = "Whole trees in motion; resistance felt in walking against wind."}
if (force >= 39)
