 Weather data Text
« Thread Started on Jun 7, 2005, 8:46pm »

First off my website is: www.billericaweather.com

I already have the standard htm file for my vantage pro uploaded and viewwable on my website by hitting the current weather button on the menu bar. My question is i noticed the weather summary template and looked at it. But its in a htm file format when uploaded by weather link. I would like to know if i could have that templatye format (basically just the text of the temp dewpoint, wind etc,) on the main index page of my website as a quick view of the current weather without viewing the page graphics. The problem is i can't insert an htm file to view on my website main page as a graphic since its an htm page. Is there a way for weatherlink to convert the template to a graphic? By changing the extention to gif or jpg doesn't work. Any ideas?

I'm at a loss as to why you want a graphic for your index page.

If you rename the file Weather_Summary_Vantage_Pro.htx to index.htx, then when WeatherLink processes it, it'll be named and uploaded as index.htm (or .html if that's what you tell WeatherLink to do.) Voila! That becomes your new home page.

If you're trying to do something else, let me know and I'll try to figure it out.

Have you thought about "include" another html page with the tags that you wish to display?

What I meant was. I want to keep my vantagepro template on my website where its located. But on my main page I would just like to place the current temp/dewpoint/wind as text t show a quick tease of my current weather. And if the user wants can then go to my current weather page to get the full details.

Create a template (name it index.htx, it'll rename and upload as index.htm or .html as you set) and include the HTML tags you want to use.

I don't know of a way to do that; just take your already made main page template and add the HTML tags from WeatherLink that you want to include; save the modified main page as "whatevernameyourealreadyusing.htx" and put it in your WeatherLink template file, set it up to be processed and uploaded by one of your WeatherLink profiles, and there you go.

Have you thought about using frames?

When you set up a page using frames, each part calls in separate html files for its data.

Most of the time there are 2 frames on the main page. 1 is for navigation while the other is the main page.

I notice that this post hasn't been answered in quite a while. I might be able to help if you still want to do this.

Share & Enjoy.

Zippy.
